tranny oil must be changed at least every 30k if not sooner. check the level of that oil and the regular oil, could be a whole list of things so you have to get that code read before i can tell you more.

also if the engine light is on, the ecu puts the car in safe mode so it doesn't rev past 4k. it could be any of the problem codes and still won't let you rev above the limit.

OMG, do I have to explain this again. Here is the original thread.

As gearbox said, your car is in safe mode because your CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. weather it is on or flashing indicates a problem. stop trying to figure out whats wrong and quit checking anything. Get up and take your car to autozone or a shop and have them find out the trouble code that is stored. Once you diagnosis and fix that, your car will run normal again.
Better yet, open the hood and do a visual inspection, then go get the code. I have posted many of times before about this. I will explain it again, everything in the car works together. Sensors send info to the ECU, and based on that info, the ecu will determine what to send to the actuators and other components. It will also determine how the car runs. Now if one sensor sends a bad signal to the ECU, the ECU will send another bad signal to another component. the info it sends out is most of the times based on the signals it recieves. If it recieves good signals, it will send out good signals and the car will run correctly. If not, the car will run crappy or will still run fine, but the ECU will reconize a problem, and set a check engine light. And this is happening in your case.
FInd out the code and someone on here may help you diagnosis it. Those who have a manaul.
