Question Auto tran shift from P to D, feel 2 jolts?

I have a 2004 civic ex 30k on it. When I shift from park to drive (when tranny cold) I feel 2 seperate engagements of transmission. The colder it is(both tranny & ambient) the longer the time between. If I step on the gas between this double engagement time the car slams into gear. When extremely cold (below zero) the car will not move. Feels like parking brake is on. I had the obvious stuff checked, linkage etc. nothing wrong. IS THIS A QUIRK I HAVE TO LIVE WITH? oNLY 6 K LEFT ON WARRANTY WHAT SHOULD I DO?

I'd suggest a tranny flush while under warranty. You have to pay for it, but have service records if the tranny craps out later. We had to flush my mom's civic, and the tranny shifted much smoother again. That was also around 30K.

It really couldn't hurt to do the flush already.
