there goes my power steering

so, i started my car, came out my driveway, made 2 left turns and then 1 right and at that moment i lost power steering. not sure how, but the nut for my power steering pully came off. where it went i do not know. so the belt came off the pully but the pully is still in its place, which is very odd. the belt is completely intact, not ripped or torn. right now my car is sitting back in my driveway cuz right when i lost my PS i went right back home, parked the car and took my moms car to work (crappy POS 2000 Nissan Altima). now i just called honda to see if they have the nut for the PS, they dont. its a "special order" item and i have to wait until tuesday to get it. not only that, but i have to re-adjust the PS pump cuz i moved it to get the belt back on the pully. now i have no car for the weekend and have to depend on my gf to drive me around in her Neon...yuck. this happen to anyone else? and no i havent messed around with any pullies before. everything is stock except for the intake.

^^^ you can but it is a pain in the *** if you have never driven a car without PS. it is really hard to turn. you are basically trying to get the rack and pinion to move against a standing amount of fluid which equals so much resistance.

I have never heard of the bolt coming off. Unless it was loose or something.

yeah its weird. went over to honda and booked an appointment for them to put the nut and re-adjust it. shitty part is they dont have loaners so i still dont have something to drive. i dont know how it got loose though, i've never touched that part the car cuz i never needed to.

yea this exact same thing happened to me it was a b*tch for honda to work on it for me.. its not that bad to drive w/o power steering, juzt like hitting the weights wen making a turn. some of my boys with egs and eks take out their ps for better handling on the highway..

I've driven a 323 hatch with no PS once. It wasnt hard to turn the steering once the car started to move, only hard when the car is at a stand still.

well honda decided to that i should pay for getting this fixed. the mechanic said no warranty cuz the shaft was stripped. well genius maybe that why the nut came off in the first place. i honestly should have just yelled out "WELL THATS JUST STUPID WHEN PARTS FALL OFF THE CAR AND SUPPOSED TO PAY TO FIX IT WHEN THINGS LIKE THIS SHOULDNT HAPPEN" and hope everyone looking to buy a car hears me.
