exhaust sounds louder in the rain...

well driving around to work and back in this miserable pouring rain i noticed that at times when im in overdrive or is it 4th gear(its an auto so its the last gear on it) the exhaust get loud as hell until i press the gas or let go of it then it will quiet bak down. now when the tranny downshifts its all normal and when it goes to bak to the last gear it would start again sometimes. it sorta seemed like when i hit a big patch of water and u feel the car bog down it seemed like it would start there but not sure. mind u this is the rsr exhaust w/ random tech cat. help?

I believe this is the old MID PIPE problem.. I had the same problem but I never got it fixed as I am out of warranty. If you are still under warranty go to the dealer and get it fixed for free.

yay something for me to deal with. i'm getting the rsr on next week. i believe the problem is the larger piping. water hits it and causes the metal to expand and rattle on the car frame. Nothing you can do really. At least it doesn't do it all the time right?>

nope it does it time to time but it gets really really REALLY annoying cause its extremely loud. would moving the exhaust away from the floor help? cause right now its resting against the floor which is causing vibration so wouldnt gettin longer hangers to pull the exhaust away prevent this?

antiloop: if u have read all the way thro especially to the part where i say i have rs-r exhaust system w/ random tech cat means i have aftermarket exhaust which prohibits me to get that fixed by the dealership.

you can always put some thermotec wrap but it would kinda ruin the nice coating on the pipes
