Clean rear box dust

I have to take my parking brake all the way up to make it work good. I took it for inspection the other day, and the mechanic mentioned that there is a lot of dust in the rear box (?) and it needs to be cleaned.

Does anyone know what he was talking about?

you just need to adjust the rear brakes. There is too much clearance between the shoes and the drums and you have to pull the parking brake all the way up before they make contact. All you need to do is remove the drums and adjust the star mechanism untill you have some drag when you spin the drums. Very easy to do. Now dust back there is normal, that means everything is working. Just need to be cleaned and adjusted. there is a DIY for it where you adjust it from the inside of the car, my way is usually how most shops do it.
