Brake Noise

2002 Civic 27239 Miles. When I Back Out Of Driveway, Drive 1/10th Mile And Brake For Stopsign There Is A Loud "clunk" In The Front Brakes. Dealer Said This Is Normal. Do Other Drivers Report This Same Problem?

Our 2003 Pilot had a TSB to fix this. I think they put some sort of spacers or shims to take up the slop where the pads are. I have notice my daughters 03 Civic also does it. Has anyone tried to get the dealer to remedy it?

you know, I have always wondered about this. When I first bought the car, everytime I would stop the fronts would sound as if everything was coming apart. After awhile I realized that the pads were shifting around in the caliper brackets, even upgrading to aftermarket pads, the same thing happens. I am thinking about next time when I change my brakes, to buy a few sets of honda shims and seeing if this helps the problem.
