water boiling sound from front...
I used to have this problem on my first car (eclipse). I bought it used with 80,000 miles and every time floored the pedal I'd get that noise. Try this. Refill the radiator with either water or anti-freeze depending on climate and that should solve the prob. Hasn't happened yet in the civic but the car is new. Hope this helps.
Re: water boiling sound from front...
I think I am having the same problem as you guys. Let me describe what I hear.
Windows up. Cold engine start. I hear a gurgling sound like a liquid flowing, seems to come from behind the front passenger's dashboard panel. If I rev up a little, the sound intensifies between 1000 and 2000 RPM, but goes away above that. If the engine is thoroughly warmed up, the sound most of the time goes away. Seems to occur mostly on a cold or coldish engine.
If I pop the hood and rev the engine by manipulating the throttle lever from up front, I cannot hear anything. So most likely the sound is coming from inside the cabin (behind firewall).
I had a mechanic perform a pressure test on the coolant system and the system held pressure. No problem there. He told me that there could be air trapped inside the system. I tried bleeding it today, and a few bubbles popped out, but the noise still seems to persist.
I do not have any liquid spilling over onto the front passenger's carpet/mat. I also have good heating/cooling if I use heater/AC.
The most surprising thing was that I discovered my coolant level was low yesterday and added coolant. This morning it was low again, but there was no dripped out coolant on the ground. This sounds ridiculous, but I have no idea where it went! Any thoughts guys?
BTW, I can tolerate driving the car with this gurgle noise, but how can I absolutely positively make sure that it's not detonation from the cylinders? I don't have the CEL on and I don't feel anything funny while actually driving the car. Your thoughts?
