water boiling sound from front...
when I pushed my accelerate pedal little bit, water boiling sound from front body.
maybe it is not engine sound. It sounds like boiling water or little stons are rolling.
It mixed with engine sound...but when the RPM be over 2000, it disappear....
It sounds like .. boiling water or rolling little stones...'gagle, gagle, gagle...'(very fast)
Anyone help! civic2001 2door 9000 miles

i'm having trouble understanding
Does it sound like a can of marbles??
That could be pre-ignition or detonation, which could be bad for your motor.
Do you live at a very high altitude?
Perhaps you need to run a higher grade of fuel.
Have the dealer take a look at it, if it's a repeatable problem.
Good luck!

anyone else with this problem...if your want to see if you have this problem, get in your car, turn off the radio and start to accelarate slowly a listen to the engine...that is how i noticed, you wont hear it if you got the radio on....
i have an auto EX and my car does that sometimes.. it seems to me like the sound is coming from the right side (from inside the car) like behind the glove compartment... my Dad said it might just be a bit of air in with the radiator fluid so it gurgles a little. I also noticed that sometimes it seems to be worse when it is colder and the heat is on, perhaps something to do with it? i dunno
I have the same problem with my Civic EX coupe. Nothing to be worry about because I know it is not denonation, because I always used 93 octane fuel, but I know it has to do with heat. My theory is that the noise comes from the header heat sink due to rapid high temp causes the heat sink to expand, and when it cools down, it sinks and makes metal cracking likes noise. However, my theory might be wrong because when I drove my car for five minutes in snow, and parked I heard the noise. It can't be because my car can't not be that hot when I only drive for 5 minutes and in the cold. I'll bring my car to the dealer to check it out. Update if you get the info.

Hey guys, I just noticed that water noise today. There's probably some air trapped in the heater core unit as the coolant is being cycled. If you turn the heater temperature to hot and raise the rpms to 2000 or so, you'll hear it. When you turn the heater temperature to cold, you won't hear it anymore. Basically what's happening is when you turn the heater to the hot position, the coolant cycles from the engine head to the heater core inside the dash. The hot coolant heats up the heater element and you get hot air through your vents. The noise you hear is just the coolant being cycled through the dash. If you turn the heater off, it will close the valve and stop the coolant from cycling. Now you will not hear the noise.
More than likely, bubbles are trapped in the heater core and that is why you are hearing the boiling sound.
Try bleeding the cooling system and if that doesn't work, you might want to take it to the dealer to get it checked just to be on the safe side.
As long as there is no coolant loss, and the coolant's color is normal, then there is nothing to worry about except a little bit of air.

That's EXACTLY how I can describe it too. When the car starts moving slowly from a dead stop either in first or reverse gear, I can hear some liquid moving around and it sounds like it's coming from the engine bay on the passenger side. It kind of sounds like ice cubes swishing around in liquid and banging off the walls of a cooler. Sorry, that's the only analogy I can think of
THAT'S WEIRD, I JUST NOTICED THAT NOISE THE OTHER DAY AND I JUST DECIDED TO LOOK AT THE 2K1 CIVIC SITE TODAY TO SEE WHAT'S BEEN GOING ON SINCE I HAVENT HADE A CHANCE TO USE THE NET, AND IT JUST HAPPENS THAT OTHER 2K1 CIVIC OWNERS ARE HEARING THE SAME THING COMING FROM SOMEWHERE IN THE DASH THAT I AM. I MESSED WITH THE **** FOR THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL WHILE THE AIR WAS OFF AND WHEN I TURNED IT ALL THE WAY ON HOT AND REVED THE ENGINE THAT SEEMED TO BE THE ONLY TIME I HEARD THAT NOISE BECAUSE WHEN I TURNED IT ALL THE WAY ON COLD AND REVED IT I DIDN'T HEAR ANYTHING. I DECIDED TO TRY THAT BECAUSE I REMEMBER WHEN I OWNED MY 82 SUPRPA EVERYTIME I WOULD MESS WITH THE TEMP WHILE THE AIR WAS OFF TURNING IT FROM HOT TO COLD IT WOULD RELEASE SOME KIND OFF PRESSURE THAT WAS BUILT UP. BUT I DON'T KNOW . i GUESS JUST LISTEN TO THE DIFFERENCE WHEN YOU TURN IT ALL THE WAY FROM HOT TO COLD WHEN THE AIR IS OFF. JUST MESS WITH THE *** WHILE YOU REV IT UP A LITTLE

it works!!! turn the temp **** to cool and the noise is gone...but still got to find a way to get the air out of the heater...

How do you "bleed" the cooling system?
I just started hearing that sound for the first time today (after 10 months of ownership)... it sounded like dripping/running water... coming for inside the dash on the passenger side. And ya, I think ayzan is right. If you reach in behind your glove compartment (when it's open), you can feel a large pipe there that carries the coolant for your heater. So the sound probably originates from there.
Didn't hear the sound anymore this morning... had the heat blasting cuz it was freakin' COLD (-20 degrees celcius) and didn't hear a thing. I wouldn't worry about it too much, if I were you. You could always take it in to your dealer, but chances are they will say they cannot recreate the sound or the problem, so why bother.

why are you wasting your money?? send it to me instead. civics were designed for 87 octane, youre supposed to use that. using anything higher 1) costs more 2) lowers gas mileage 3) has absolutely no benefit whatsoever for your car, and could actually be harmful

My started to do near the end of summer to autumn. It has stopped since (close to the end of autumn) I had brought it to the dealer but they were not able to recreate it. Morons.
My 94 dx coupe was doing it too.
