When is the last time you had your brake fluid flushed? blead? if you cant remember, have it done.

For pulsing in the rain... You have an EX right? if so, thats the ABS kicking in, so dont worry about it.

Air in the brake lines is the #1 cause of a low squishy brake pedal... and its also the most overlooked mantiance part on the car.

YOU should replace fluid every 2-3 years. And a better fluid would not hurt, I personally use ATE blue.

If your brake pedal sinks when you apply constant force to the brake pedal, and you have no leaks, your master cylinder needs to be replaced. Guaranteed.

I had the same problem with my old Accord. I would try to lock up the brakes on purpose and they wouldn't lock, just come to a slow stop. I would bleed the brakes and they would be fine for a little while, but the problem would come back after awhile. So I replaced the master cylinder and the problem was gone. My Accord had 110,000 miles on it though. How many on your car. I'm guessing they just need bleeding and or fluid replacement. Is the fluid milky looking and not clear? How far do you pull up your e-brake handle before it stops? Did you replace the rear brakes too? Does steering wheel vibrate also?

When I say vibrating steering wheel, I mean while braking.

Okay. First of all, a brake kit and bleeding your brakes isn't going to fix a faulty master cylinder. From what you described, it is obvious that the master cylinder has failed. This is a serious problem since you have a severe loss of braking power. The vibration is another issue and possibly related to the rotors and pads, but first and foremost, get your master cylinder replaced asap.

If the master cylinder has FAILED, he wouldn't be stopping at all. He wouldn't be driving car, for very long, that wouldn't stop. From your computer chair your going to say "ITS YOUR MASTER CYLINDER".

There is a primary and secondary cylinder to a master cylinder. It is designed so you won't lose complete braking power when you develop a leak in the system. usually both function when you are braking. If one fails, you can stomp and brake or pump the brakes to stop. The master cylinder is like a double plunger. You can stomp and force fluid with the plunger, but if the seal around the plunger is bad, holding the pedal will cause the fluid to rush past the seal. This is what causes the pedal to sink when you brake and hold. This is the only thing which would cause the pedal to sink when you hold it, yet provide braking power when you stomp on it. Knowledge of how the actual braking system works would bring you to this conclusion.

A low pedal is not the same as a pedal which sinks as you brake. Pedal travel will naturally be longer as the brake pads and shoes wear.
