My trunk locked up
I can't open my trunk with the trunk release. I have to use the key everytime. I know the trunk release can be locked with a key. I locked it. But I unlocked it and it still won't open. Maybe a cable broke or something. The dealer is going to fix it. I just have a really bad feeling that it isn't broken and I'm just an idiot. That would be really funny.
Something kinda along those lines happened to me too man. One day I try to lock it and the trunk could still be opened with the latch, even when I unlocked it (of course!) so I make an apointment with the dealer. A few weeks went by and I hadn't touched it and when my apointment came around I brought it to the dealer ad when they tested it, of course it locked then! I felt so stupid! Oh well, it works fine now....
Yeah, I was mad when I left. I woke early on my day off for THAT????!!!!

I was glad that it all worked out though, and promptly went back home and went back to sleep...

Wow! I guess I'm not an idiot! Sweet.
Maybe I should buy an electric trunk thingy, so all you have to do is press a button to open it, because pulling a little lever is soooo hard.

I had the same problem. I picked up my car with 50 miles on it, used the trunk release fine for a week, decided to lock the remote release and then it wouldn't unlock fully. I brought it back to the dealer and they fixed it in 5 minutes. I think this is a known problem and Honda has a technical service bulletin. i.e. It isn't important enough to have a recall but Honda tells the dealers the cause and how to fit it.
Ick, lots of problems on the 2K1.
Not good for Honda's rep, but it won't be that bad.

i had that problem too..but i caused it when i took off the door sill etc etc...
you should see what that key really does..it's a piece of rotating plastic that flips the locking mechanism..and sometimes it doens't unlock it properly..it's an easy fix..but for those who don't wish to play with it can bring it back to honda...

LOL...I thought I was the only one. Same exact problem on my car. The entire plastic piece had to be replaced with a new cylinder, cable etc. The Honda techs said that while it is a good idea, they break all the time. It was all under warranty.

it's not that tough to fix...it's just a crummy locking mechanizm. you'll see what i mean when you take the plastic cover off and examine the lock. a valet boy who's a thief could easily lock/unlock that release without any trace.
it's just a plastic flip that your key rotates...which in turn disconnects the release button.
to fix it you have to take that whole cylinder out...there's a washer/nut that you just need to tighten properly...but before you tighten it..the most difficult part is re-aligning the plastic flipper properly. hard to describe without a picture. but yeah once you have it properly aligned just re-tighten the bolt etc.
the problem originates because of the fact that it's plastic...with a few uses it's easy to overrotate the piece and it goes out of alignment so when you turn your key the release is neither fully disengaged nor engaged.

I had the same problem with mine whe i got it. I bought it used so I whent back and told them about the problem. They didn't wanted to do anything about it but I keep pushing till they did. I got it fix right there. It turns out to be that the plastic part are not keeping its orignial shape. The Mechanic showed me how when he put preasure on the plastic it would grab the lock and it will lock and unluck but as sone as he stoped putting preasure on the plastic it woun't grab the lock thus not been able to lock/unlock.
My car now is not locking the trunk but i can live with that.
