Help a newb with a code
Help a newb with a code
Im a n00b i admit it
I went and got my codes read for my check light and i got 2 codes:
P0135 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
and
P1298 Electrical Load Detector Circuit High Input
The guy at the auto store said all i needis a new 02 sensor and it should clear both codes, but i wanted to check with the experts (you guys) first.
Oh yea and my car has about 53,000 miles on it, so is it normal that this happened? Also the car is running normal.

Dont ever listen to parts people when they say "you need a new o2 sensor". They say this all the time when there is a check engine light and the code reads something with an o2 sensor. What would you do if you spent say $60 on a new o2 sensor and that didnt fix the problem? Who would you blame?
Also the o2 sensor has nothing to do with the electrical load circuit. that is something completely different. The ELD has basically turns the alternator on and off to help with fuel economy. When there is no load on the engine, it will shut the alternator off untill the battery voltage reaches a certain voltage then it will turn the alternator back on.
There could be a slight chance fixing the o2 sensor problem could fix the other codem but you will never know untill you test the system. If you need, I can tell you how to test both if you have time from the manaul.
