3 trannys later same sH*&!!!

Alright its been a while since ive been on the site but i have a few concerns sorry if this is all repetitive...i have a 2001 lx coupe manual, ive had numerous problems with it but most of fixed...but the one that just doesnt seem to leave me is this damn transmission ive gone three already this being my thrid one the car right now...driving back from orlando to ft lauderdale from school 20 min into the ride 5th gear pops and and im like great here we go again the whole ride i had to hold it there for 2 hours just so it would stay there, my question is if i take it to honda and tell them ive gone through 3 trannys and tell them that this problem is persistent will they consider replacing it for free? I saw the TSB and obviously i should bring that in and also i dont have warranty

well its unfortunate that you've went through 3 trannys and the same thing still happens. i doubt that honda will give you a free tranny (unless you got all 3 done from them). if you do decide to get another tranny tho, i'd suggest that you get one from a '03-'04 civic. they're supposed to be better than the ones from the previous 7thgens.

i bet theres the same parts in a 03-04 as a 01-02, my 01 has 43,000 driven hard and it's mint.

actually, i've driven an '03 civic and i have a '02. but i have to tell ya, that there is definately a difference. the '03 was a lot smoother, the clutch pedal was softer, and engagement was smoother as well. i'm not saying that there are some '01-'02 trannys that arent good, but the newer ones seem to be performing a little better IMO.

Unlikely. Most people believe the Dealer when they are told "it's normal" so there are not enough to push a petition through.
Think about how many civics are out there. Honda will never do a recall on a non life-threatening issue. It would cost them too much. They pobably figure that most will trade in for a newer car soon anyway. Which is for the most part true...

It's ALL about profits.
