Leaky Strut? I just got a brand new one free @ 130000km!
Leaky Strut? I just got a brand new one free @ 130000km!
Well I just got off the phone with Honda Canada, I told them that I replaced my right front strut at 80k and was upset because now the left side was leaking. Frustrated I went into the dealership to inquire about any good will coverage since SOOO many 01's strust leak, ofcourse I was only brushed off and sent to Honda Canada.
I called honda canada today, explained the situation, gave my VIN, the operator put me on hold and when he came back he said that there wasnt any formal extended warrenty, however I kept bugging him telling him sayings its real annoying to keep replacing these, and that Im just a poor university student.
He then offered me 1 free strut! *
the only catch is that I need to pay for the labour and the labour HAS to be done at a Honda dealership. Ah well I always vowed to never go to sisley again but if its for a free part why not!
I then called back and asked if I Could have a free allignment since we were messing with the suspension. He said the dealership would contact him and decide weather it should be a 4 wheel allignment or just the front but he would throw it in as long as the dealership deemed it neccasary.
Did I mention my car is at 130,000 km (80 778.255 mi for you yanks)!
Makes me glad I have a Honda and 2 Acura's in my drive way
btw Honda Canada - 416 299 3400
only on hold for like 3 minutes and total time was like 15 minutes, I wish all customer service calls went this smooth.

at least as of 3-4 months ago. Monroe and the other big suspension companies haven't put out anything for the 7th gen civics. I'm hoping by the time I need new struts again Monroe will have them out.

Sorry Bro... I didn't mean to get Offensive there... I'm just use to hitting the quote button, and I put in the screwy character refering to not having cheaper struts... But looking back I can see it was a bad place to put it so I apologize.
I didn't know about the KYB's, that's a good find, but it's still $120 plus shipping. I forget how much the OEM one is, but it's comparable. I swapped out both my front shocks in my truck for $40. That's the comparision I was trying to make. It would be nice if Monroe or someone put out a decent affordable shock. I'm pretty sure you can get shocks for the 6th gen civic's dirt cheap also, something to do with the design of the shock.
