shaky steering at 70mph
my steering wheel shakes a lot when i hit 70 on the freeway, i have regular tires in good condition stock size so i dont think its that. Im not knoweldgeable in what goes on with the steering system so i dont know what could be causing it. anyone have this problem or know whats wrong? car is a 2001 civic coupe lx, no major modifications.

usually a balancing problem occurs at around 120 km/h which is about 70 mph so that would be your first place to look.
if you live somewhere where it snows you may just have ice built up in the inside of the wheel causing a balance problem....this is why I don't get why people use hubcaps in the winter....they just trap **** between the cap and wheel...lame.
I changed tires and oil for 4 years. you have an out of balance tire or a broken belt in a tire which would be indicated by a bubble sticking out of the tire....like a big pimple...ewwwwww. or you caught a curb turning one day or hit a pot hole too fast and bent a rim. its one of those things.

well the car doesnt veer to the right or left i dont think its out of alignment, and the tires look in good shape, and i have honda alloy wheels so i dont think i bent them they're only 14" wheels. how much is it to get alignment checked anyway?
My SL65 rim, because a rim is all I can afford

where you driving through snow or slush?
If you have alloy rims, the slush/snow can get on the inside of the rims, freeze on the inside and through the rim out of balance, it's happened to me many times this winter.
