Possibly fried some wires

Alright, so today when I started my car all I saw was smoke come out of my vents. I had no idea wtf was goin on. took the car to my friends house to get my headunit n subs installed, he noticed that none of my gauge lights would go on except the digital mileage and what gear it was in. Besides that, no other orange lit thing would come up(except on the doors and the background for the digital mileage). anybody know what it could be?

make sure your #9 fuse under the hood is not blown. i had problems with that one and it caused my dash lights and interior lights to go out.

I would not have installed a system if I just had smoke coming out from somewhere in my car, and fried wires from "something". I would have to figure it out first before I hooked up the wires.

I would take the illumination back loose and see what happens. Some recievers use positive voltage some ground for dimming/illumination, and I would not tie them together. I think the plain orange was used on my car.

You may have damaged the dimmer section that controls the brightness of the lamps.
