V-AFC2 Programming
V-AFC2 Programming
okay heres the deal. i installed my control but i need help on initial setup. i need to set the sensor number but i dont know what to put it at.. on default its at 06-06. basically im lost. someone please help! i have a 2001 civic ex. 1.7 vtec sohc. anyone with the same model or year with a control like mine, hook me up with what you set yours too. thanks
Re: V-AFC2 Programming
sorry for bringin it form the dead, but i have the same car and engine and i have all that setup properly, but my CEL light keeps comin on after about 15 minutes of hard driving, but not giving me the "limp mode" 4000 rpm cut off... that only seems to happen when vtec is not on stock setting ("***"). For reference i do have the VTM and the TDC wires hooked up.
Ive found some people say to set the vtec on here to 3, but also some say on1... well the CEL came on with the setting of 3. I have now reset the ecu and changed it to 1 and about to drive home, so ill see what happens and ill repost.

Re: V-AFC2 Programming
ill try and find the wire diagram. you prolly wired it wrong if you are getting a cel for that. ive had my vtec set to 1 and 3 before i knew which one, and no cel came on. the vtm wire is prolly in the wrong spot. and you should not adjust the vtec anyway, there are very specific things that need to happen before the ecu engages it, and its not good to force it to come on at certain different rpms. could ruin your motor doing so
Re: V-AFC2 Programming
Well, I've been deriven it set at vtec on 1 and have not had a CEL come up.. Guess well see for sure by tommorow. And yeah the wires are hooked up right. And I know not to change the vtec-e engagement point. I just can't wait to do my k20a swap and put the d17 behind me.. She's got 150k on her, and although she's been good to me, its never been enough. I got every bolt on possible, lol.

Re: V-AFC2 Programming
also you did all this first before starting the engine right? if not, i would reset the vafcII, unplug battery (only resets ecu, not vafc), and redo it from the beginning. do the initial setup with car in ON mode, then turn off, then turn back on and crank motor. should be fine then with the correct settings.

Re: V-AFC2 Programming
ok, well i have figured out that the CEL is coming on due to my new exhaust... its a straight through with no cat, so im not getting any back pressure, therof causing the EGR valve not to open... thus giving me a p1491 CEL code.... bleh.
anyone know what i can do for this? surely others have had this problem with a bigger exhaust system...

Re: V-AFC2 Programming
and for reference, i do have defoulers placed on the 2nd o2 sensor to not get the CEL for no cat.
this is a different problem pertaining to no back pressure (or less that normal anyway) which is not letting the EGR valve get the pressure it needs to open and let the exhaust travel back into the intake (for emisions).
well bottom line is this.. be default honda does not let vtec engage if any CEL is active,... thing is is that i have a v-afc2 hooked up, vtec and all (set at default vtec) , so with that being said, doesnt the v-afc send the voltage to the vtec solenoid anyway, thus engaging vtec? i would think thats true regaurdless of the CEL or not, so really this particular CEL shouldnt bother anything else, in theory... tell me if im wrong.
