Front noise

Hey guys, have a very strange noise (like metal-tapping sound) under the hood for a week now. Car is Civic EX '01 with 100,000 km on it, and is 5 spd. Noise appears only between 2k and 3.5k rpm in all gears when I try to accelerate fast (to pass), but if I just rev in neutral - it's not there. For slow acceleration - I can't hear it. Any thoughts?

Go to your dealership and get them to check the Valve lash clearance. Viola!

Maybe your hood latch is lose. Mine is (I have an 04) and it sometimes rattles at idle with the car in drive. While driving or with my car in park but at idle it doesn't do it, it's just the vibrations of the engine at that specific state that causes a rattle.

I doubt your problem is the same but it is something to consider

yeah, my subs make my hood rattle like crazy on the latch. I havent actually looked at tightening it or anything though, can you just tighten? At low rpms sometimes my car makes a quiet squeel noise, like a belt. Do you hear that?
