Exclamation My Car Is F'd Up!

Well basically my car is fuked all up!....It all started when my car began to lag as i was driving going slow when i know it accelerated much faster and then one day out of no where my redline revlimiter went down to and kicked in at only 4000 rpms...instead of 7000, when it hits 4000 my car lags and startes to shake and dropes in rpms....acts really wierd....but when that happens i turn my car s computer off by the key while im coasting and turn it back on while im still moving and then it lets me go past 4000 and back to 7000.....but after about 10 minutes its startes redlining at 40 again......when my car is just idleing it shakes real bad....when i push in the clutch it tries to die and now it dies everytime i push in the clutch.....

I took my car up to discount auto parts and put it on the computer and it says i have an air-fuel metering problem and a misfire in cylinder 4.....
and then today my car started making a bad knocking sound from cylinder 4 sounds like real bad and then it got super bad!....it even knocks when it idles now and its loud!....my car keeps dying when i dont have the gas pressed down it just stalls out and i cant go past 50 mph .....

someone please give me some input of what you think the problems might be....

P.S. i have apexi n1 exh. and injen CAI

Check the spark plugs
Also check and see if the sensor is in place for the intake.
and check to see how dirty the airfiliter is, if it is dirty clean it.

also I just check your user profile and it says you have a AEM Fuel Rail and Regulator. check the injector for issues.

First thing I would do is check all the lines around the intake piping and intake manifold.

To me its obviously sounds like a fuel related problem.

Any update as to whether you found the problem? Did your power go out from the storm?

At this point if you can hear knocking from cylinder 4 you may have a crack somewhere that is causing the misfire. If you can baby it take it to your nearest Honda dealership to get it fixed. If you are still under warranty Honda has to prove that your mods caused the misfire or else they are obligated by manufacturers warranty to fix the problem.

I found something...

"A loss of power at high engine revolutions may be caused by a defective oil pressure seal in the VTEC system. The camshaft must be removed to replace the seal."

Somehow I dont think that the link I posted is referring to our actual problem. I will hopefully find out the real deal at the dealer. I know for a fact that the code its spitting out is VTEC System Failure, but haven't located the exact thing that is causing the CEL and symptoms. My friend and his co-workers from the dealer said that an Acura CL came in with that problem as well. Also, a few 02+ Si Civics. So the problem has occured in the past. He said most of the time it is a clog in one of the oil passageways or something like that.

On the other hand, I am really excited about this problem! This is my first major problem ever. I think its cool!

LOL! Glad you are excited about a problem in your car. I drove an 82 Accord Hatchback for 20 years, and was still waiting for a problem. I gave the car to my friend when I got "new car fever" in 02. It STILL runs fine.

Anyhow, Maybe the VTEC solenoid as well? The O-ring failure is interesting, and possible.
I tend to note new problems for future reference. Never know when a little info comes in handy.

My major problem happened a couple weeks ago on the drive from Colorado to Florida. Sprang up just shy of San Antonio. The transmission fluid heated up and actually started cooking off. The car went into some sort of safe mode and wouldn't let me accelerate hard or hold over 3,000 rpms for long. That meant I could only go about 60-65 mph or else it overheated and went into safe mode again. After I limped it out here I dropped it off at the dealership right away. Turns out there is a recall for a shift solenoid on all '01 and later Civic HX's that have the CVT. The dealership replaced the solenoid and put in new tranny fluid for free. The car has been running just fine since then.

Dealer tried to give me the run around. Partially my fault, cause I gave them reason to. A while ago I attempted to try that ebay chip thing cause my friend gave me one for free, and it didn't work. The install required cutting the wires going to the AIT sensor. When I replaced my intake before heading to the dealer, I mustve pulled the wires apart again. So when they ran the codes it came up with the AIT sensor code and the VTEC system failure. Although, they did not mention the VTEC system failure code until I told them to show me what codes came up. Even though I knew that the AIT sensor code appeared after the VTEC System Failure code, they insisted that the AIT sensor was to blame for that. They were going to charge me $400 for that sensor to be replaced. The sensor was fine, and the wires just needed to be connected again. I drove home pissed cause they wasted all my time, and reconnected everything securely and reset my ECU. Now I have no codes and no problems, but, the VTEC System Failure code/problem was intermittent. So I am going to wait till it happens again.
It was the strangest thing when it originally happened. I had done a oil change not more that 3500 miles ago, and when we hooked up the computer, it read the VTEC System Failure code. So then we checked the oil, and my dipstick was completely dry. No oil was in there at all. Yet the car was running fine for the most part, with the exception of the CEL. I know the oil didn't burn out of there that quickly because I would've seen/smelt the oil come out my exhaust. It certainly didn't leak either. I am dumbfounded. I hope that CEL comes back on again with the same error.

They give you a little warrenty book when you buy the car, along with the manual.

Also the paper work from when you bought the car should have the warrenty info.

It is usuallly 3 years or 45,000 miles, unleass you bought more warrenty time.

Also they have a 100,000 power train warrenty when you bought the car.

Yoiu should be fine, something like that isn't your fault

if your warranty doesn't cover the engine you can get the motor cheap all day long on ebay.
