auto tranny shifting hard

Lately the auto tranny has been switching gears harshly even at mid rpms. It doesn't do it all the time, but there's a big jerking movement when it does. It used to be really smooth, but now it changed after I installed a tranny cooler. Is the harder shifting supposed to be better, or is it making it worse. Car only has 24k miles.

My old escort zx2 did that. When it would shift into second, it would jerk hard. Basically parts of your tranny are going out. I dont know the exact problem, but I would take it in. It might also have to do with your tranny cooler. Take it off and see if the problem still exists.

Tranny cooler is supposed to make it last longer I thought. And even then the thing is the size of a mini amp. Doesn't do that much. Oh well, extended warranty time!

Take out the tranny cooler and see if it still does it.

Yeah really. And my car looks stock engine-wise, so no problems. Even the other mods are all OEM (kit, rims, etc).

h and the cvt auto tranny actually comes with a separate cooler just like the one I have.

well as we all know, trannys go out at different times. Maybe yours has had enough. LOL. Honda will take care of it for you though.

Man that's messed up. It practically a new car, and I don't even race! It's seen 6krpms maybe a few times it's whole life. And I usually drive below 4k rpms. Maybe it's time for it's yearly tranny fluid change.

Sigh it seems our gen civics are running into tranny problems. Mine went out after 40k miles. Sigh... It sucked sooo much for I spent 3k+ and ended up paying off the rest of the car.. 6k... then now bought a new car. Hence.. the 2k3 Dub!!

But man do I hate the fact I gotta pay for this car monthly again.. for another 5 years... sigh...
