Driver side lock blues
Driver side lock blues
Here's the deal:
I installed some speakers in my 01 a few months ago, and when I was putting the driver door panel back on, the white pastic piece on the lock broke that fits into the metal clip on the door. It wasn't that big of a deal, I just taped it in place and it worked fine. For a few months. Today, the lock stopped working with the remote (passenger side is OK) but it still worked with the interior lock switch. So today, I got home and took off the door panel. When I held the lock in place, the remote unlock/lock still worked. So I tried to glue it in place. Well, that didn't work so I just took it off and cleaned the glue off. Now, the remote doesn't work on the driver sided, and the interior switch doesn't work (the passenger is still OK). When I use the remote or the interior switch, I can hear the motor trying to work and the driver lock moving a tiny bit, but not enough to lock or unlock the door. This is phenominally frustrating, I expected to fix this problem in about 45 minutes and now I'm worse off than when I started and I didn't get to go out with my girl either.
Any suggestions? I've searched all over the forums but I haven't found any posts with a problem exactly like mine.
Thanks.

My suggestion would be to take apart the entire door again, and re-assemble the lock mechanism piece by piece ... and don't glue together anymore broken parts - just replace with new parts.
