air intake system
air intake system
He guys give me some advise.
I am thinking to install a now air intake system for my 99 civic se instead of the factory one. cause some people told me that will increase 10-20 hp. Is that true?
Does it worth to spend couple hundred bucks on it? and if it does, which brand is the best for my baby.
Thanks I appreciate.

if you have a 99 civic, get J's racing intake or any imitation of that. It's not a CAI, but it gives the best gains over any intake including AEM

please keep the stock in there!!!!! I had a cold air intake installed about 9 minths ago and just last week my engine hydrolocked and now I have to get a new engine. So I would advised against it. So if something were to happen warrenty doesn't cover and very rarly would your insurance cover it. I was lucky that they did

I'd say 5 to 8 HP from an intake upgrade.
I'd agree with aznboysrfr, get a cheap one.
The intake will also increase the gas milage.
I suggest getting a K&N filter if it come with a stainless one.
Check ebay and get a used one or generic brand.

Well...for me I never get the extra mileage...I end up wanting to hear that engine scream so I usually get lower miles per gallon, somewhere around 34-35...but when I drive on the highway I get around 40mpg...also synthetic oil helps a lot with the MPG if that is what you are looking for...

I had the K&N fipk and got 32mpg all highway. Switched back to stock and got 38mpg. Low end torque will decrease with an aftermarket intake, but you may gain a few hp up top.
5-8 Hp is a lot when your starting out with 115-127 ! Jeez!! of course buy one. You will feel the difference.
i have found that intakes need some tweeking to get the best all around performance. example shortening my AEM SRI made a world of top end difference without losing any low end TQ.

No, it's the K&N fipk. I just got mine from robearracing. It has a heat shield and smaller tube than AEM. This means colder air and better low end than AEM. Design is just better imo.
wat do u guys think about this?

My K&N fipk can be heard even when accelerating to 3500rpms. Basically if the pedal is pressed down almost 1/2 you will hear it. Only way not to would be keeping it below 3k rpms. On the freeway it's silent at 65mph, but give it some gas and you'll hear it. I think it's alot louder than stock. Once I get my new S&B filter, I expect it to become even louder.

I think the V2 is comparable to the fipk. The design is alot better than the original AEM, so it should be good. Can always swap for a better filter later.
