Anyone have an HX coupe?
I've got an 01 HX and I beat the pants off this kid in a stock Eclipse the other night. The funniest part was when I rolled down the window at the next light and told him I still get 36 MPG in the city.

i want to focus on the part, "engine had to be replaced as well as the ecu and the tranny is almost shot.." so you had to replace your engine?!?! can you explain what happened?

but seriously, around how much cash does it cost to do an install, did you get a kit from honda?
Ok lets go into this with more detail. At 50k the everything basically stopped functioning. It did the now infamous wont go past 3grand on the tach thing and stalled and sputtered and wouldnt rev except at the pace of a special olympic hurdler AKA VERY VERY SLOW. So me being the dumbass i am decided to take the car to a Honda dealership for an explanation. After a week of what must of been them staring at it and scratching thier heads, they claim that i had no compression. So what do i do, of course i grab another engine and pop it in there and of course it doesnt fix the problem. So then Honda once again recieves the engine for furthur diagnosis. They scratch thier heads for two more weeks then come up with the ECU being bad. So once again i go with thier advice and replace it. Of course this does nothing. So finally after me almost killing the shop manager at this dealership tell them to fix it I dont care what it takes. So the tell me the PRE-Cat in the manifold is clogged so i get a new one replace it along with a new downpipe and Resonater and she fires right up no probs since. So yeah I will never buy another Honda and will tell everyone i know not to buy one unless it is pre-2001.
Now the Transmission It is a mt and at about 35k second gear began to pop out occasionally so I checked fluid levels and had it flushed and it never really got any better so im assuming there is a bad synchro in there somewhere.
Now onto suspension- 20k miles shocks blow out I say **** and and buy Koni's never been happier with an aftermarket part
The car also tends to misalign itself within a day or two of having it realigned so in other words I hate this car

wow, i have mixed feelings about the car, i hear some good things and some really bad things, i thought i wanted to get an hx cuz of its good gas mileage, and honda's reputation of very good dependability/reliability... i personally am pissed off with toyota so i won't go there, but those two names are very infamous for its seemingly reliable cars.

Its a really big deal with what Honda did here with the 7th gen . They took a cheap car and made it cheaper. Nothing in this car maked it worth the amount they want you to pay for it. They also took a good design and changed it (6th to 7th gen) So they are working with fairly new stuff in these cars and are really doing badly with it. If I could make a suggestion, If you want a nice small car like a Civic take a good hard look at a Protege or a Sentra. Both have been doing very well for the last few years and have similar body styling to an extent. Your insurance will also be less for they are considered "Family Sedans" due to the fact they are 4 door.
