Anyone have an HX coupe?

I don't know which forum thread to post this question in, but I was just wondering if anyone on this entire forum owns the 7th gen civic HX coupe? I haven't really seen any on the road, and one stupid dealership claims that theres no such thing, even though its clearly on the website. I wanted to know because I'm interested in getting one, the EPA gas mileage is quite impressive (36/44mpg) vtec lean burn. Well, I just wanted to know first hand impressions of it, any problems that they experienced or real gas mileage figures(particuarly for manual tranny's)

hopefully if i get enough info, I will be a seen to be owner of a 7th gen civic..

thanks guys

Same here - had some yahoo at the dealership tell me there was no HXs being made. I thought of getting an HX but they do not have power windows and I don't think AC is even standard.

I have a 6th gen HX coupe with manual tranny instead of 7th gen. As far as gas mileage goes, it's pretty accurate. I'm getting avg. 42mpg with mixed driving. Worst mileage i got was like 35mpg(that was with almost 100% of street driving) It has a vtec-e engine("e" for economical). I can say that engine is very reliable, I bought it new when it had 3 miles and now it has 73,xxx miles and never gave me any problem, I just start the car in the morning and drive, been doing that every day for last 5 years. If you're looking for a rock solid reliable car with killer mileage HX is a great candidate.

thats reassuring to hear about the HX motor, but i'm wondering why i can't find one at a dealership, it appears on the website that they took out the DX coupe, and now theres an HX in place of it, maybe thats why the idiot "professionals" at the dealerships don't see it on the computers (a mix up or mis type in the system).... yeah i know its annoying how the HX doesn't have power windows as an option, but i could live with it...not to mention i'm sure i could eventually get one installed or something, as far as a/c goes, heck i'll pay the extra... it'll make up for it over the years of saving gas money

i thought the value package replaced the DX. i asked about the hx at the dealer. they told me that hadn't had one there in years and they were only really sold in california. dunno how much truth there is to that.

I have an 01 HX coupe. When I got mine, the dealer sold the one I wanted so I had them bring another one in for me for the same price that was agreed upon. It took em like 3 weeks because the guy told me that there were approximately 3 in the entire state of PA. I don't know about that....BUT.....I have yet to see another 7th gen HX on the road.

I like mine a lot tho! Great gas milage and its not too horribly slow. Gets me around and I only have to fill up once every 2 weeks or more. It never gave me any problems except the computer freaked out on me at about 10,000 miles(weird fluke I guess), and the headlight recall.

I'd recommend getting one if you can live without power windows, sunroof, keyless entry, and the whopping 12 HP extra with the EX......and maybe the dealer will throw in the AC for free

I'm not sure about 7th gen HX's, but my 6th gen HX came pretty much fully loaded including power windows and locks, AC, Keyless entry. My HX has everything that EX have except moon roof and factory cd player. The price I paid was $15,000 out the door. And about the rarity of HX, when I went to dealer to buy hx, there was about 20 ex's and dx's, but there was only 3 hx's. I asked sales man why there's so small number of hx's compared to ex and dx, and he said that for some reason hx's are hard to come by, and it's true since i hardly see HX's around. Maybe Honda should make more hx's and market them to more people, it seems not many people knows about hx's including sales people. With gas prices these days I'm sure alot of people can use car like hx.

Yeah, thanks for the responses guys, sales people are ignorant, i checked the inventory out myself at a few local honda dealers and some actually carry a few, like 2-3 HX's...but yeah, definately rare, I found out that I can get most of the options i want, ie keyless remote, a/c, except the moonroof and power windows.... so for you 01 and up owners, you guys get around 40+ on gas?

The week that I was looking for an 04 HX, there was one 350 miles away from my home. Of whole California, Berkeley of Honda has the only one in stock.

I settled for an LX from the dealer near me instead. Three weeks later, I went to get my windows tinted. There I saw an old man with an 04 Coupe HX. I asked where did he get it from. Turns out he got it from the dealership near me which didnt have any in stock three weeks ago.

04 HX doesnt come with an A/C from the manufacturer. But comes with Power Windows, Power Door-Locks to name a few. I really wanted the HX because of the mpg, not to mention it's VTEC, A/C complete kit can be had and DIY installed for $759.00.

MSRP HX: $13,710 (Im sure this can be had for $11,500)
MSRP LX: $15,160 (got mine for $13,500)

I believe Honda doesnt make so much HX because:

If they do, they would kill their own Hybrid Civic sales. Hybrid and HX mpg is almost the same but the cost of ownership is less on an HX upfront.

04 HX doesnt come with an A/C from the manufacturer. But comes with Power Windows

According to my 2004 Civic brochure and 2004 Consumer Guide the HX does NOT have power windows. Unless both of these sources are wrong or Honda changed to power windows after these were published.

hx has no power anything. no power windows, no power locks, none of the good stuff. i would personally not recommend buying any model lower than the LX.

To think that an HX has a 117hp VTEC engine as opposed to and LX, its a step down from an LX? I dont think its below the LX class. The only reason why its cheaper is because it doesnt have an A/C.

Yeah, according to the honda website, an HX is well equipt, power everything(mirror, doorlocks), has a tach, cruise control, a/c is optional, keyless is optional, but no power window, or moonroof..... we should start a petition to honda, get a few thousand names on there and we'll see more at the dealerships,

question to Vinh: how much did the power windows installation cost?
