you have all probably read my problems with a previous honda dealer. now i took my civic to another dealer and told me the same thing. which still donest sound right.
if at anytime the dealer has to put ur car on the lift to check out a problem ( even if you are still under warantee) there is a 30-40 doller charge. if they dont find the problem they charge you. if they do find a problem then there is NO charge.
seems to me that its a game of RUSSIAN ROULETTE!
hope this info helps you out more than it probably pisses you off.

damn man honda screws ppl over with this type of crap. whenever we take my dads benzo for service or maintinance they look at and fix everything under warantee. even if we caused the damage they still fix it no questions asked.
and the best part..... they give us loaner cars which we keep for a week or so.
and theryre sometimes brand new cars with less than 6k miles on them
SLK's M,C,E classses and even a lincoln LS
burn rubber in parking lots all the time with them.

Not to start a flamewar here, but look at it this way:
The dealer is a business. When they check out a car, and nothing seems wrong, they have to charge for time. Just like anyone else. When they DO find a problem, and it's covered by warranty, they don't charge YOU, but they get paid by HONDA. I know, we all hate the dealers, and hate paying any money. Myself included. And there are good and bad dealers... But try to see it from a business viewpoint.
Now, Mercedes is in a different leauge, but they don't all check your car for free either if nothing "seems" wrong. Mercedes may go the extra mile to get repeat customers, I don't know. What I DO know, is that MY dad had to pay for diagnostic time for his 450SLC.
Honda is an economy bucket, plain and simple. Everyone buys them. Acura gives a step up in service, a step up in cars. What can I tell you.
I try to put things in perspective before I go screaming about Honda. If you want top notch service, lets face it... you need to buy a $40,000+ car. It comes with the territory.
OK, rant off.

If you think Honda dealers are bad... Try Toyota or VW dealers. Some of the stories I've heard I'd never believe if they hadn't come from reputable sources.
Oh ****...I was just about to take my car to the dealer to check the suspension(while itz under warranty) but $40!!!if nothing's wrong!!?? dayummmmm!!!!!!!
what should I do....hmm I wanted to get my shocks replaced with new one if i could.. but I don't wanna pay 3~40bucks if nothing's wrong...ahhh!! foC hOndA dEalErs...

I've never had a dealer charge me for looking at a warranty-related issue. Not even the worst dealer in Columbus. Of course, now that I think about it there has also always been a problem that needed fixing

Just don't go in for warranty work unless there's obviously something wrong and something that can be seen/heard all the time. It sucks, but that's how it is.
if it is under warranty, then you wont be charged. I will only take my car to the dealer if I have a serious problem. There are so many shops out here that do the same work as honda, but 10x cheaper. And most have free inspections, unlike honda who charge $89.95 just to look and most of the time, they dont even look. I went to a honda one time about my brakes because noone else could figure the problem and they looked at it and found the problem and gave me a quote of $500 and I said I will come back tomorrow and they kept my ticket open and I never came back. That way I didnt have to pay the $90. And it took them about 15 min to find the problem.
If it is under warranty you should not be charged no matter what. I know this business probably better than 95% of the people on the site. When you take the car in under warranty if they do not find the problem they simply state, "Cause of problem not able to be determined," or something to that effect and then Honda pays out...That is how it is with every car manufacture...warranty == no charge...period(with the exception of modified vehicles, but that is a different flame war)
that is not always true, if you take your car into honda and say it is under warranty and they don't find the problem, you will be charged for them to look at it. Now if they find the problem and determine it is under warranty, then you wont be charged.
yea i agree mercedes and honda are different animals.
but in my opinion if the car is under warantee, no problem, no fix, no repair, there should be NO charge!

Lemme tell you about VW babe. I had my Jetta (02 1.8T with K04 turbo and lots of other thingie mc boppers by the way) and I would take it in for the littlest things like a burnt out tail light. Never charged a dime. Originally Posted by VTEC01EX

A good Dealer is hard to find. I have had good luck with Scott Robinson Honda.
But I also invested the time to get to know the managers on a personal level, and we bought 3 cars from them. I always remind them that Airport Marina Honda is next door to me, but I come there because of how I'm treated.
I make it a point to stop in JUST to say Hi. You'd be surprised how far that can get you when you need something.
