Angry Dead Battery?

Alright, I searched and found a couple possibilities but I think it might be the starter..
So tonight, I went to get dinner with one of my friends. I came back out, went to start my car, and a couple clicks, then nothing at all. I checked the connections, they were fine. No corrosion or anything (I try to clean them at least once a week). So hmm, dead battery.. but I never left anything on. Headlights, dome lights, everything was off. Anyways, I went to start the car again after about 5 minutes of standing out in the freezing cold. All the indicator lights (the lights that come on when you put your key in the ON position) came on, then I went to start it, I heard the starter solenoid kick in, but nothing from the starter.. Just clicking. Since the solenoid kicked in AND since the cables were hooked up to my friend's car, wouldn't the starter at least try to crank?

A couple things to keep in mind:

1) My battery is probably junk to begin with. I've beaten the living **** out of that thing between rear defrost, stereo, and it being well below zero lately

2) I've had problems in the past starting my car. Except then, the starter would just crank and crank and crank.. and eventually it would start. I would just have to have the key to the START position for about 5-10 seconds.

The car did finally start after about 5 tries tonight. I wish I would of had my multi-meter with me so I could of tested the voltage of it before the jump start. Any ideas on what might of made the battery go dead in the hour we were inside? As I said, everything was turned off. The only thing I can think of is because it's REALLY cold outside and my battery is close to junk. (Even the eye on the battery is black instead of green)

Tomorrow, my friend is coming to the shop that I work at to test my starter and I'll probably buy a new battery anyways since I need it. Does anybody else have any ideas?

Well tomorrow at work, I'll do a load test on the battery as well but I'm thinking that's probably what it is. I hope lol

Just change the battery. I have had NEW batteries just DIE while I was at lunch, no explanation. It was not the car, since it never happened again after replacing the battery only.
Get an optima, worth the money.

Alright, so I did a load test on the battery today. 442 cold cranking amps. I believe the battery is only rated at 410 cca to begin with so I know it's not the battery. It charged with a/c, rear defrost, and high beams on @ 14.1 volts so the alternator is good as well. It's been starting fine today. Anybody have any other ideas on what the problem last night was?
