tranny slipping
tranny slipping
i have a 2001 civic ex with an automatic tranny. my problem is this: i had bought the car used from mike shad nissan in jacksonville, florida and when i bought it the car had almost exactly 35,500 miles. after about four months of VERY hard driving ( burnouts, neutral drops, and the worst one of them all is when i back up out of a parking spot i USED to rev the negine up to about 5000 rpm and then drop it from reverse into drive). now i know now that that is very very bad for the tranny because the result of this was a blown tranny. after realizing that i was not treating the car right, and after replacing the tranny i started to notice that, when shifting from first to second, the tranny would disengage first gear wait about 2-3 seconds and then sift into sencond. now can anybody explain this? if you got any other questions about the car, the place that installed the new tranny or other things just email me: hondachristina01@yahoo.com. please help!!!!!!!

Sounds like you beat the crap out of the car and now it wants some revenge.....
it could be a couple of things, the transmission may have some thing wrong with it or the torqueconverter may have been damaged from all the abuse.

the only problem with your theory is that the tranny has been replaced with a brand new one that has only 10,000 miles on it so i dont think that it is anything that you mentioned, but then again i am not sure so........

I would lean more towards a faulty transmission. You say its a new tranny, but by new do you mean it came from honda as a NEW in crate tranny? Or was it rebuilt, or a rebuilt tranny was installed? Typically a bad torq converter will cause a low stall speed. If i were to guess, and i do mean guess cause its been FOREVER since ive done lots of auto tranny's it sounds like some sort of valve body issue, maybe pump problem. hell i forget guess im getting old
