Cancel extended warranty?
When i bought my car 03EXCoupe i got the extended warranty until 75k miles. Im sure it is not as good as the 36k bumper to bumper warranty, even though the dealer told me when i got it that it was the same exact thing. Now im considering cancelling it, if i do i can get $600 back that i can put towards payments. Not sure if this is a smart thing to do or not? What are your ideas?
I have the extended for my 01 coupe - I believe it is the same as the 36k - covered systems should be in the documentation you received. I'm thinking AC service will at least be an issue in 75k and I believe that is covered by the warranty...AC service generally runs a few hundred and the components aren't cheap.
I need TP for my bunghole

if you have it keep it you already had one issue there might be other.
It is like insurance it doesn't seem to have a purpose until you need it.

you could recoup some of the monies (depending on if youve used it yet), but i believe that they will prorate it
if your trading in for another Honda...they should be able to transfer it onto the new car (or atleast use it towards the down-payment)
*you have to 'wheel-n-deal' with the dealerships*

Ive already spoken to Honda customer care and they told me they estimate my refund of about $599. But to actually cancel it i would have to goto the dealership to pick up the paperwork. I dont mind keeping it as long as it is decent. I know of other ppl with extended warrantys through other companys such as ford, and the extended warranty doesnt cover certain things that it should. If it is as good as the 36k bumper to bumper im probably better off keeping it then
*EDIT* Like at Ford a friend of mine brought in their car because the check engine light was on and they are in their extended warranty. The dealership told them:
If they hook it up to the computer and it shows the problem as being something that is NOT under warranty we will charge you $200 just for hooking it up to the computer and downloading the codes and then whatever extra to fix the part.
If the code they download is a warrantied item, then everything is free.
To me that is messed up...

Tough call with Honda wanting to void everyone's warranty because you hang an air freshener on the mirror.
I actually try to avoid taking mine to Honda for anything. I like the car, but I have better luck working on it myself.

with the amount of problems I have had with this..and the cheap build quality in the 7th gens..I'm glad I got the extended warranty. now I can take the car ack every 3 months for the next 5 years . Ohh YaY
