Grrr at dealership.
Was going to spray off my engine here to clean it up before it gets too cold to use too much water. I also decided to change my air filter. I noticed on the air box one of the areas around the screw was broken off.
Must have been the dealer last time they were in there.
Jerkoffs are always using their damn airtools on plastic and breaking stuff all to $hit. . Pisses me off. They already broke one awhile back and fixed it, but this time I noticed it and it's been too long since my last service, I can't prove they broke it.
So. . now I can't spray off my engine because that broken peice leaves a little open gap in the air box which would allow water to just pour into there if I spray the engine, and a new box can't be very cheap. Might as well go cold air.. .
At any rate. . just venting. . If you work at any place that works on cars KEEP the AIR TOOLS away from plastic. . yeah. . it's quicker, but your jacking my stuff up.

True. . seems like when I roll to the junkyard there isn't anything there but junk. . I'm let to see any 7th gens. . For that matter any 6th gens. .
Damn Hondas seem to be the only car you can roll 4 times and still drive the focker home and sell it on ebay.

Thats because the Japs design these cars.
Try seeing if someone is selling one in the for sale forum. Or try ebay. If all else false, go to honda, but it would be cheaper to get a SRI or CAI if you go to honda.

My old '95 Accord had a similar problem. After several years, and on two occasions, a screw holding the air filter cover on would snap right off when I tried removing it. This was using hand tools (1/4" socket set). The problem is that the screw rusts where it mates with the embedded nut in the airbox. When you try removing it, the head of the screw snaps right off.
My 01 Accord fixed that - they went to wire snaps that hold the airbox cover on. I was disappointed to see that my 03 Civic used the screws. I'd recommend that everyone lube the screws when you replace the air filter to prevent this in the future.
I drilled out the broken screw, and used a sheet metal screw to replace the broken machine screw.

I guess you are right crv. This is the plastic peice around the screw though, not the screw itself. . They weren't rusted at all. In fact mine are painted black so the rusting isn't and shouldn't be a problem. The only reason I blame Honda is because they broke it before because they used power tools, but fortunately they knew right away that they did it and fixed it. This time, either they didn't notice, or didn't care. Anyways. I suppose it could have just broke, but that seems weird to me, especially since the part is not the original as it's already been broken before. .

Yeah. . I guess I could .. Didn't think of that before, I always pictured a Wal-Mart bag tied up in there some way, but I guess that plastic wrap stuff would work really well. My luck, I'll probably leave some on and it'll melt on there. LOL..
BTW. I think it's Seran wrap, and Seran is just a brand name, whos marketing skills have been good enough for everyone to call all plastic wrap Seran wrap. . Good idea.
