I think you'd be okay for the most part, but those springs are there to allow the exhaust system to flex a little when your bouncing around over rough roads. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong thx.
hey, im wondering the same thing. Im getting my HKS rear section today, and I might have the same problem. Would anyone know if it really made a difference or not if the springs are on or off?
Hmm.. I have been riding with out the springs foe 2 days and I am not sure it's okey or not. there's not really a problem with it but I sometimes hear rattling sound. I should probly buy a new set of springs over home depot or something and install them insted.

Usually there are extra bolts that come with the axle-backs that are used with the stock springs and get rid of the stock bolts. Well thats what mufflertech.com sent me. It makes life alot easier. I can send someone a pair I have. I got an extra pair for free.

You definately need the spring bolts. If you do not put them on you will wear out the donut gasket that is in there due the flexing of the exhaust system on a front wheel drive car. All you need is 2 long bolts that thread into the back of the intermediate pipe and two large washers that are bigger than the spring. So put the washer on the bolt, then put the spring on, then thread it into the nut that is welded onto the intermediate pipe. That should do it. All parts required can be purchased at Home depot or Lowes.
