A Huge Clunk Noise When Braking

Sometimes.. i'd say at least 3 times a day.. I hear a loud clunk when I brake.

I have a 02 Civic Sedan. Anyone about this or is it just my car?

If this happens every time you brake your car right after moving it forward from going in reverse then it's probably your ABS system kicken in... if you have an EX.

Not when you go into reverse, but braking after moving forward. Hmm... ok.

yeah, it happens to me too. i asked people on this fourm before and those who responded said it was from Honda using cheap brake pads. they said once you replace the brake pads the noise will go away. oh, and the noise is from the pads shifting back and forward after you go in reverse or forward, and its not a problem.

If you have to back out your car from going into reverse in the morning, then it'll especially happen since you got out of reverse. Don't waste your time at the dealer anymore.

Honda used to have little springs in the calipers to keep the pads from having any play. I have actually not taken the time to work on mine, since I know it's harmless. But I'd bet the insert clips from an older civic or accord would do the trick.

My car did that and the Mechanic told me my roters were bad. I had them and the brake pads changed. No more noise. ^.^

That'll surely fix the issue, along with warped rotors. Sometimes to brakes can be resurfaced though.
