Possible tranny problem

Lately, when i down shift into 1st i here this whining sound. It almost sounds like a supercharger sounds. Just wondering if this happened to anyone else, and if so what is it. Just trying to figure it out, so if something is wearing out that i can fix it before it breaks.

Also the tranny can be in 1st with the clutch engaged and it will still make the same noise. It has been getting colder up here in Wis but i dont think that has anything to do with it because it will do it when the car is warm and cold.

I know what sound your talking about kinda like a winning nosie but my car only does it in first with the clutch disengaged. Pretty sure this is normal for our cars but i dont thinks its normal to make that sound with the clutch engaged By the way why/how do you downshift into first?
