antenna prob

hey i have a 01 ex and have had problems with that antenna.. anything i can do about it.. I thought it was the headunit aiwa mp32 so i bought a new one a clarion 735... but still no improvement in reception i have 31K miles and thought of bringing it back to honda but I need a factory head unit to stick in there so they dont say my upgrades caused the problem.. thanks

Did you tint the rear window? SOME tints can mess up reception. Check the little window clips that connect to the rear defroster grid. This is also the antenna. Honda uses a splitter box that powers the defroster, but also pulls the radio signals off the same grid.

i think the antenna and defroster are seperate. On my 02 LX sedan, the upper most portion of the window doesn't defrost, cause that is where the antenna is. I can tell cause there is one spot where two lines come close together, but do't meet at all. seperation from the antenna and defroster i guess.

I get some static when my defroster is on but only from stations broadcasting from San Francisco (I'm 40 min south of SF, in San Jose). But everything else is fine.

You need to connect the atenna amplifier from your stock harness to a constant powersupply, I spliced it to the amp remote wire on my hu.
