not electric short, shock might sounds better but like happygilmore said, static is the right term.

this came up before, its something to do with electrons from your tires stick to the car and thats why you get shocked. they say the more that you spin the tires the more static it makes. they have a stupid chain or antenna that transfers the electrons to the ground but I dont recommened it. just touch the plactic to close the door instead...

and yeh i looked my kor-eng dictionary and i found it as static electricity but i thought it was a science term not a everyday language..so..yeh..anyway..
i thought its because the negative battery is grounded to the body..what a noob i am..hehe

I never spin or burn my tires and I get the static from my car too, annoys the hell out of my wife, she thinks the car doesn't like her or something, kinda like that movie Christine, but it happens damn near everytime I get out of the car, and I don't race or spin my tires, so I have no clue why it happens so much.

Hmmm. No this problem is very annoying. My girlfriend get shocked everytime she closes the door in my car, and it's not "just" static. It's loud enough for me to hear and she says it really hurts. Is there any way to remedy this? Perhaps the car is not grounded properly? Please HELP!!!!

Depends on what material your shoes are made of. I've got a pair of sandals that build up a significant static charge every time I'm in the car, but my boots don't build up anything.

I just make sure to touch the metal of the car as I put my foot on the ground -- works fine everytime...

Kind of like electro-shock therapy. You get shocked enough times, you realize what to do to prevent it.

Its partly related to the cloth seats in this car too. My WRX shocked me as well.

other then using this

(it's static eatting keychain, where you touch a metal surface where there might be a static, touch with it, and neon lights up)

or this

(it doesnt need to touch ground, so you can install it where it doesnt show)

I dont think so. lol

easy way to fix this, use your elbow to close the door. You will still get shocked, but you will barely feel it. You build up static from driving down the road. You can get out of the car do the balloon trick. You know where you rub it on your head then stick it to your clothes. But you won't have to rub it on your head.

Well i close the door by pressing on the window lol. But sometimes i get shocked big time. This happens because of the carpet your foot is on. The floor mat is supposedly anti static but its not so true. Go try rubbing ur feet at your house where theres carpet with your shoes on. Do this for a good minute. Then go touch someone they should get shocked.

So the solution to stop getting shocked is ur floor mats.

You guys are still talking about this?? Geez. It is natural for static to build up while driving in almost any car. Actually it is from moving around in the seat. If you have leather, that should help, but it is also from rubbing on the floor mat. Two Words: STATIC HAPPENS! Live with it.
