kinda high pitched sound..m/t

when the car is running theres a sound which imo is not normal..
its kinda high pitched sound but not really high..i cant describe it in word..
its not really noticable but if i listen carefully i can surely hear it..
it usually sounds but sometimes i cant hear it..
as i mentioned it sounds when the car is running and if i press the clutch then
the sound stops..
i wonder if the transmission has something to do with this..
at first i thought its normal for m/t cuz i thought a/t and m/t has different engine sound but now i think its not normal..im not sure tho..
any idea on this?

I think I have that too, only when I'm idling and I let out the clutch... nothing to worry about.

Re: kinda high pitched sound..m/t

bump. Did you folks figure out what the cause of this was?

I've got a 05 EX M/T with the same issue. when its warm out (I think thats when it happens) I get the high pitched squealing sound (sounds like a belt since its oscillating), but never paid too much attn to it since it went away after a while.

I've done some searching on the forum, but all i can find is that the transmissions for automatic 01-02 civics were failing and had this similar noise?

Any reccommendations on how serious my problem is?

also, i've read over the "diagnose MT noises, save yourself some $$$" thread, and i dont think its that.

however, I will head out and try the clutch up/down test to see if thats it. but i dunno. hopefully someone out there has similar problems.

I've gotten parinoid since my buddy's VW just blew out a ton of stuff....but i suppose VW's quality control has some issues that honda doesnt quite experience.

Thanks!
