Question CD player THEFT PROTECTION!

I disconnected my battery and I don't have the CD player code to get the thing to work. I talked to Honda this morning and they charge $73 and it takes an hour? You would think they could just have a code generator for my VIN and just punch it in. If I can't find the code, am I going to have to pay the $73?

That's ridiculous. This has happened to a few people on the forums and they all got it recovered for free. All they have to do is take out your headunit and type the serial #. You might wanna try anotehr dealership......... because for $60 you can buy a new EX headunit w/ theft code from someone else on the site.

Agreed. And if I'm gonna pay $73 just to fix my stock crap, than I'm gonna go spend another $100 and get a nice deck on sale somewhere.

Your stealership wants to take you for a ride!

The info is free even if your warranty is up. All they have to do is get your VIN# and search their database for your car's info. Everything in your car has been registered under your name when you bought your car.

Silly dude, don't deal with them cause they will steal from you!

Try looking in or on the side of the glovebox for a small white sticker. That's where my number is, and it was there when I bought the car.

Some theft protection.

Same thing happened to me. They said they were gonna charge me. So I tried calling the next day and it was someone else. All he did was look on his computer. Asked my name and where I live to bring up the info. And he gave the code to me. I believe you have to call the honda you bought it from

Hey I bought one from ebay but I forgot to ask for the code. Is there any way for the dealership to look it up without his VIN#?

From my understanding, the only thing they care about is the serial number on the stereo. They didn't need my name, VIN, or any of my information. They just wanted the serial number.
