Whining noise from alternator
How long or how many miles will an alternator last after you first hear the whining noise from it.
What alternator for about $150-200 is good here in u.s.a.

Sounds like it's just a bad bearing, so however long it takes for that to go. Not something I'd put off for terribly long...
OEM is the only way to go, unfortunately. If a new one is too much, junkyard is your next best option.
