Fog lights problems [solved]

Can anyone tell me where inside the car? I can attach these wires the cut wire obviously attaches from The Wire. That was inside my Honda Civic 2006. Coupe pre-installed for the original fog lights. What do I do with the red and black wire? These were supposed to be near the battery terminal. But they're not now So can I install it in my car and where can I put it. Man i'm so frustrated. And these things did not come with instructions.

Here are the basics.

The 'ignition switch' wire will go to whatever has battery voltage when you want the lights on. You could connect it to the headlight circuit, park light circuit, ignition, etc.

Thanks again for the awesome Diagram! So if I read this correctly, the relay is by the battery and the single wire that goes through the fire wall is the wire to the switch?

The relay can be mounted anywhere. If the factory relay is in place it will be in one of the fuseboxes

re: Fog lights problems [solved]

I don't know anything about a factory relay. But I know that the kit that I purchased came with its own relay. And when they sent it to me, everything was all attached except for 1 black wire and one red wire that apparently led to the battery terminal. So I understand all the connections now. Now what I want to do is have just the switch inside the car Hooked up to either the Cigarette lighter or the ignition switch. And the relay and all the other wires inside the car engine bay At least I think that's the way it's supposed to go do to the fact That's what I see in the diagram.

We don't know anything about the kit you purchased.

I'm by no means trying to be rude but it's clear you're no electrical expert. It would be worth while getting a friend who has more knowledge to help you out.

Oh I understand perfectly well it's just that the kit from Amazon comes fully assembled to show the user that it works when plugged in to the battery terminal.

not very happy with the company that I purchase them from which is unfortunate Because they work I just have to cut the wires to move things around.

As you can see it works all the wires though are inside the hood.

re: Fog lights problems [solved]

I also apologize because i'm probably not explaining it very well. Me no speak english well. Haha
No, the messed up part is I did atmospheric lighting inside the car. I did the subwoofers I've done speakers. I even put in a new touchscreen to replace the factory stereo and yet thes fog lights are screwing me up as to what should be in the car and what should be in the engine bay. The good news is you helped me out more than any you tube video has! Props to you for the diagram. I'm just sorry i'm not explaining it properly..😂

re: Fog lights problems [solved]

Glad you got it working.

I've purchased a cheap fog light kit on Amazon for my '02 Civic and an '04 TSX (both Winjet brand), as well as an Autowiki brand for my '03 CRV. All required fairly extensive modification to get up to my standards. You can make them work the way they come but I don't care for the relay/fuse zip tied somewhere under the hood and the fog light power coming straight from the battery. The switches are also really cheap looking and didn't even fit for the Civic or CRV sets.

re: Fog lights problems [solved]

I definitely agree with what you just said. The way they use their set up for their fog lights is just cheap and I don't like the way its straight to the battery terminal. the switch that came with the kit isn't very well made. I'm looking to buy something else for the switch. I saw a setup in which the fog lights are controlled by the same way all the other lights are on the steering column. I feel like this would be the best messamethod for controlling the fog lights as well. Anyways I just wanted to say thanks again for your input.

re: Fog lights problems [solved]

In my '02 Civic the kit came with a switch for the spots left of the steering wheel. It was an EX so all three spots were already taken by cruise main, power windows, and sunroof control. I ended up finding an OEM switch in the junkyard which put it down under the radio.

In my '03 CRV the kit came with a switch that didn't fit any spot. The supplied harness also had a connector designed to plug directly into the fuse box for ignition/headlight controls. It didn't fit any open connector spot. I had to redo the whole thing. That was okay with me since I could make it look much better. I was able to swap the headlight/turn signal stalk with one from a '06-'08 Pilot with factory installed fog lights then wire up the lights to the fog light switch on the stalk. A direct swap with two added wires for the fog light control circuit. Not sure if you could do something similar using parts from another model.

In the '04 TSX the kit came with a switch for the spots left of the steering wheel. There was an open spot so I used it. Sold the car soon after and didn't mess with it any further.

I also currently own a '07 Civic with aftermarket fog lights. I had to fix the janky wiring the previous owner did but it is using the cheap switch that came with the kit. I'll be selling this one soon as well.

Yes. I meant to the left of the steering wheel, not on the wheel itself.
