Ignition Key Won't Release
I have just gotten an '08 Civic LX 1.8 Coupe/ auto. The battery was dead from sitting for 9 months. Tried to start it with the battery first; then with a charger on it. Didn't start. Now with a new battery the key will not turn from accessory position (position I) to off (position 0) consistently without disconnecting the battery. If you futs with the door lock switch on the driver's door long enough it sometimes releases. To be clear, the key has 4 positions: 0,I,II,III. 0 is off/release, I is accessory/radio plays, II is run, and III is start. I've tried the battery reset procedure from ALLDATA where you disconnect the battery leads and ground them together for 10 mins w/the key in position III. Didn't help. Anyone else had this problem? I'm a newbee here. You can email meI'm 76, soon to be 77, so don't wait too long to answer. My lifetime guarantee is about up. LOL.
