Bad Parking Brake Sensor and Battery in Key on 09 Civic
Bad Parking Brake Sensor and Battery in Key on 09 Civic
Hello All,
So the title speaks for itself. I’ve recently realized the fact that I may have a bad fuse for my parking brake. When I apply it (Sometimes), does not show the “BRAKE” icon on my dashboard although the brake is applied.
On the second note, maybe 2 times out of 50 when I went to 2x lock my car, the beep was not heard to verify everything was locked even though all doors are locked and security system was activated.
My real question is should I even bother with a mechanic? This is an 09 Civic with 77k miles so could this be just from age?

I’m not sure I’d even bother with trying to fix it, but that’s just me. It certainly wouldn’t hurt to check wiring, but it doesn’t sound like fuses to me, otherwise they’d never work

The switch for the parking brake light might be out of alignment or bad. Easy enough to check

Either the switch is failing or the little plunger that activates the switch is broken/missing. It would be a five min check, five min fix, and a fairly cheap part
