14 Civic EXL randomly going dead and door lock issue
Hello,
My wife's civic started going completely dead recently took it to a honda mechanic and after multiple electrical tests can't find any thing wrong.
In August 2019 took the car in for oil change and replaced original battery shortly after the drivers side door lock started acting funny. The lock would lock and unlock when just in the vicinity or wont unlock or lock without using the buttons. The car was being driven daily until my wife retired on Jan 10. Shortly after the battery went dead after sitting approx 3 days. Took it to the dealer and they said bad battery and replaced it. About 2 weeks later the car was dead again so took it to the honda mechanic who kept it about a week running tests periodically. Battery never went dead while there. Approx a week in a half or so later battery went dead so took it back to the shop and left it for 2 weeks and this time the battery went dead after sitting over the weekend(mechanic told me he started it ever morning except the weekend). Still electrical tests showed no issues. He suggested we take out the honda replacement battery and try an interstate battery and about 2 weeks with the interstate battery it dead again. Locks still screwing up but he doesn't know if the lock issue has anything to do with the battery drain. He reached out to fellow honda mechanics but has not found any who have dealt with this issue. One suggestion was it could have to do with a body control module. I am contemplating have him put a new door lock actuator in but hate to be out the money on a gamble that will fix it. We talked about installing a plug to recharge the battery when it goes dead but i'm not sure about that.
Any suggestions will be appreciated
thanks
