2006 Starter Replacement

2006 Honda Civic EX Coupe 5spd

i was getting an occasional grinding noise from the starter when starting the car. I decided to be proactive and replace the starter. The replacement went well and when attempting to start with the new starter I get all normal lights, however, the new starter never engages. I’ll plan to get the vehicle back on the lift to further diagnose but wanted to see if there’s anything obvious to check. A few pertinent notes:

Negative ground removed from battery during replacement process.
Immobilizer seems okay - green light quick flash
Battery fully charged
Noticed it wouldn’t take my radio code

Thanks in advance for any tips

Re: 2006 Starter Replacement

Looks like my.new starter was a dud. I put the old one back in and it's working fine. eBay parts are a dice roll and turns out this was not a good choice. On the upside - I've gotten much more proficient as it only took a fraction of the time this go-around.

Well, first off, 2006 is a completely different generation to 2003.

Sounds like you didn’t line it up properly.
