I took my wife's 2013 Civic (82K miles) for an inspection today at my local mechanic and was told that there is something wrong with the steering rack, which he said is electronic and beyond his abilities. He said even if he installed a new one, it needs to be calibrated which he does not have the equipment to do. I had noticed it pulled to the left when I drove it a few days ago and assumed it just need an alignment. Any advice would be appreciated.

As far as I know the only symptom is a slight pulling to the left. Is it not possible that it could be an alignment issue?

That would've been the first thing the mechanic checked. It's worth getting a second opinion either way.

Actually this was just the mandated state inspection and he did not check the alignment (he does not have the gear to do that) but he said it pulled to the left in his gravel parking lot when he drove it over to the garage.
