2015 Civic Rear Knocking Sound

I have a 2015 Civic EX 4dr 72,000KM on it.

The past few days I have had a knocking sound in the rear of my car. I recently got new winter tires put on and did re-torque them after 100km.

The sound occurs when I brake then let off of it continuing at lower speed (Ex: 20-40km/h) as I speed back up the knocking speeds up as well but eventually stops at a certain speed.

Anyone have any ideas of what it could be or what I should check.

did you torque the lug nuts all the way one by one?
check for loose ones.
I usually torque the first one, torque the remaining ones, then loosen the first one and re-torque it. the first one often does not get in correctly.

Yes I did, The shop had to put my winter tires on new rims so they also put it on and torqued them. Then after 100km I torqued them again one by one checking if there are any loose after. A couple days later after the sound persisted I torqued them again none were loose.

I had the torque wrench set to 80 foot pounds.

I forgot to mention when I first got the tires changed the shop forgot to replace to valves so the tires went flat the day after, I put enough air in them to get me back to the shop and they replaced them.

I’m trying to fix this myself because it started right after I got the car back the second time from the shop, but they want 300$ to look at it again.

Jack the rear end up and start wiggling/spinning things and see if you can replicate the noise

Re: 2015 Civic Rear Knocking Sound

the most common ones are the anti-roll bars endlinks and after that the top mounts
my latest clunking ones were the rear upper control arm bushings that were goners, so inspect bushings too

lift car
inspect
tons of parts in a car. could be exhaust rubber hangers too. Who knows, your fuel tank hangers could be loose.
or something in the trunk
while it is up, spin tires and see if anything is weird
