Transmission fluid level [solved]

Hi!

I have 2 Honda Civics 9th gen hatchbacks (european). I was servicing my 2015 R18 engine with automatic transmission (non cvt) and I changed the transmission fluid. Before hand I checked the level and it seemed good (factory oil) I measured up how much I drained and added the same amount of new Honda ATF oil. But after driving the car and checking the level it is slightly over the marking on the dipstick. Its about 0,20 inches over (5mm), should I drain the transmission to correct level or is it no worries? I have a sprayer nozzle and pvc tube so it should be an easy jobb to take som out. However it must have driven with the same level since it was new.

What do you think, what would you do?

Best Regards from Sweden!

David

How are you checking the level?
Engine and trans up to temp, car off, in park, on level ground?

Good stuff
you could try draining like 200mL and see how the level is then. Basically pull the plug, count 1, 2, and then reinstall.

Good advice! I assembled my pvc-hose and sprayer nozzle today and sprayed exactly 200 ml out. Warmed the trans and took a reading. Se picture. Took a test drive and it does feel a little bit smoother.

you were bang on with the measurement

best regards
David
