New clutch is slipping

I have a 06 Civic Ex, put a new clutch 3,000 miles ago and now when I give it some good torque the clutch begins to slip but doesn’t have that clutch smell, I did the normal clutch break in but is this normal?

Re: New clutch is slipping

No. A new clutch should never slip when the pedal is completely released. A few things to check:

-Oil/fluid leaking on the flywheel/clutch?
-Was the flywheel replaced or resurfaced?
-Does the clutch feel normal? Grabbing at the same point off the floor as the previous?
-Is the clutch pedal releasing all the way?
-I'm not sure if 8th gens do but some Civics have a clutch adjustment nut on the master cylinder/clutch pedal. Maybe try adjusting it.

I was thinking oil may be seeping in there some how but I’ll do some investigating, if there is oil residue I just drive it normally until it dissipates?

Re: New clutch is slipping

Is there oil residue where the trans bell housing meets the motor?

Do you feel anything through the pedal when it is pressed in?

CEL on? We had another member a week ago think his clutch was slipping but it was actually a bad sensor causing the engine to bog down.

There is oil on the housing but don’t know what’s leaking cause it doesn’t indicate where, there is a leak but I’ll have to investigate it. I didn’t think it would interfere it.
