no but you should at least resurface the flywhel so the surface is smooth for the new clutch.

Ahh I thought you had said it cost 189 or something like that. I tried emailing the guy for the stage 2 clutch and a 12 pound flywheel price package and never got a response.

Ahh do you have like some hook up with the company and you know all these prices? Ideally, I would like them to put up a custom auction for me with the stage 2 clutch and 12 lb flywheel so I;m protected by ebay and stuff. I dunno if thats possible.

Also, im a bit leary of F1 products because ive never heard of them.

it you go to light you will lose lots of low end torque.
Our cars don't have much of that.

Driveablity, 7lb flywheel is like RACE-spec making it difficult to drive on the street just because the RPM's drop so fast in between shifts and stuff.

Heavy = More Torque, less HP
Light = Less Torque, More HP

I heard that also.

A 10 - 13 lbs. is good for 0-60 mph and 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile
A 7-9 Lbs. Loss timing in 0-60 mph and 1/8 mile but will get a good 1/4 mile time if you launch, shift and fast perfect. Better fitted for Auto cross

launching will probably be a bitch with a 7 lbs flywheel.

I was teaching a guy how to launch his civic (turbod B16 on 10 psi of boost) at the track. And no matter what he did, he would bog (7" MT slicks). I had him hold his foot to the floor, bouncing off the rev limiter at 8300 RPM making 10 psi of boost, then drop the clutch. with 18 psi of air in the tires, it still bogged badly. He had a 7 lb flywheel and 6 puck clutch.

Lighter flywheels have faster response, but less inertia. Inertia is what gets you rolling from a stop. Personally, i am using a stock flywheel. It isnt too heavy, and i will not have any problems running my 24" slicks now, or my 26" slicks later on.

Holy Crap!!! 7lbs. is extremely light for a D-Series......I wouldn't even run that light on my K-Series....stop-and-go traffic is gonna be fun for you man! Unless you really plan on road racing/autocrossing your ride alot, the 7lbs. flywheel is gonna be on the light side. Good luck either way though.

So basically your saying a 12 lb flywheel won't really be that much of a difference for me when I race at the track? If thats the case, you just saved me 150 bucks.

I wonder what stock flywheel weight is? I'm in the market for a new clutch and was looking at the OEM Exedy. Do you think the F1 stage 1 organic would be compared to more of a Exedy stage 1. If so I might have to try that.

My F1 stage 2 clutch kit and Exedy flywheel work perfect.
The clutch catches right away and the clutch pedel still feels the same.
The exedy flywheel reves up really good and you only have to give the car 500 rpm more of gas to take off. RRMs drop down normal.

I do plan on gettin in to auto cross and road racing. The flywheel is gettin done first cause i needed to replace my clutch anyway, adn figured id do them both at the same time.

Ive always had some problems bogging out anyway, and anytime ive dumped it from a hi rpm(around 4-5k) i think ive bogged everytime, so if it does do that, it wont be much different than normal for me.

How much does that exedy clutch weigh?
