2007 Civic Starter replacement now won't start

2007 Civic DL 2 door
1.8L
Automatic transmission

Replaced starter. Top bolt of starter is a bear to get in. Old top bolt was missing. Installing new bolt, threads are stripped about halfway down in the block. Bolt is holding the starter in. Not perfect, but it should hold. Doesn't seem to be a problem.

Problem is that new starter won't run. Car has a Viper 3200 remote start/security system. We were given no remotes when we bought the car. Starter turned over and started car with old starter. Battery was disconnected during starter replacement.

I am wondering if the immobilizer reset when the battery was disconnected. We found the owner's manual online and it says how to disable the immobilizer. Tried that, no success. Ditto the valet option on Viper.

Options seem to be:
1) remove new starter and verify that it is good.
2) Remove starter and test that voltage is going to starter wires.
3) remove viper system and rewire original connections to starter, security, etc. This seems like a huge problem to take on b/c of not knowing what wires attach to what on original wiring from Honda,.

Am I missing anything? It has been sitting for a month b/c it took that long to get the top starter bolt in from Honda. I need to get it running, but not sure what to do at this point. Any help is much appreciated.
