check engine light p0497 & p145c

2010 honda civic ex 4 dr sedan 250k miles.

Had a nice mobile mechanic helping me but now he's awol. He tried replacing the purge valve solenoid but no joy. I've tried changing the gas cap. Im not really good at diy but the local repair shops are always trying to rip me off (20-50% more then what repair pal estimates). Often times they don't fix the issue either to the point where im done with them.

Whats the next logical step to try (that a total noob with not much tools but has a driveway) can do?

Thanks in advance!

No idea what repair pal is but maybe it's no longer accurate. Labour is expensive and electrical diag can be a real pain in the ***. Do you know what brand of parts the mobile guy used? Honda's can be picky with electronics.

https://repairpal.com/

It's considered the gold standard for repair estimates and almost all the shops reference it.

Unfortunately I don't know what companies part he used to replace the purge valve solenoid.

I've noticed that the car is really loud now almost like when the exhaust needed repair however I've been to 3 different shops and they all say the exhaust is good.

There is a noticeable fume from the bottom of the car on the outside not really a gas smell but kind of a exhaust smell.

Could it be the charcol box?

Sounds like an exhaust leak. I have worked in multiple shops and have friends that own shops, never heard of that site

Yeah I can see that. Thanks for the idea! What do you use to create repair estimates?
