Strange scratching sound during start up
Strange scratching sound during start up
2011 Honda Civic Si, 76k miles k20z3 engine.
Almost every single cold start up the car will make a very deep loud scratching sound near the front of the engine. I’m not sure if the sound is from the left of the engine or the right- but it definitely doesn’t come from anywhere else during cranking.
I have a feeling it could be starter related, chain tensioner related, or the chain itself. I’ve never had any slap or anything like that so i doubt it’s stretched- and the car is in time as far as i can tell.
I want to air towards an EVAP problem, as sometimes while i crank with the gas tank low on fuel- i’ll turn over the engine once and then it will make a loud WOOSH sound from the engine bay as long as i have the key in.
I’ve talked to so many people before and so far no one has ever heard of this problem before, so any help would be so greatly appreciated !!
