Stutters and jerks at 3100rpm
Stutters and jerks at 3100rpm
2008 Hybrid. Once it hits 3100 rpms it starts sputtering and jerking. If I then try to accelerate it's as if I'm in neutral. It will rev but not accelerate. Easing off below 3100rpm stops the hesitating. If I feather it I can get up to speed. This typically doesn't happen the first 5 or 10 minutes of getting in the car. It also only happens when in drive. I can go over 3100rpms in neutral and drive. So far the CEL is not on. Any ideas?
Re: Stutters and jerks at 3100rpm
Oops yes, neutral and park. My bad. I don't *think* I've had the fluid replaced. I did a bunch of work on both of my cars last summer and I can't remember everything, but I'm almost certain that didn't get done.
Re: Stutters and jerks at 3100rpm
Your transmission like likely failing like I mentioned earlier. The fluid breaks down over time and it doesn't lubricate the gears properly. You'll need a shop to diagnose it to be 100% sure but the only solution to that would be either to replace or rebuild it.
Re: Stutters and jerks at 3100rpm
Some other info that might be helpful. First thing in the morning when it's really cold, if I put it in gear and hit the pedal it will often rev as if it's not in gear. Two or three seconds later it will clunk and then engage. However, if I coast or very lightly feather it, I won't have this issue. I don't have this issue when it's not cold out.
